An Old Fashioned Love Song

Just An Old Fashioned Love Song
Did I sing

One spring
When flowers bloomed everywhere you looked
I saw a princely image of you

And I kept that image locked in the deep recesses of my heart

I was a princess at one time
Walking along shores that stretched miles and miles
I walked barefoot and nimble
OH, the sands they tickled, and once I stumbled
over the rocks that had
been washed ashore
after years of sleeping
in ocean beds
never heard of before

Who goes there, the crustacean asked
Tickled by her sight of distress.
Look with nimble feet, does she walk lightly on our sands
The rocks, she steps on
and tumbles down to a fall
and sits there
still regal
Perhaps a Princess
Well, who knows
She's someone as pretty as dawn.

Then the seas rushed forward,
Their angel had fallen
They washed over her sandied feet
And the waves
lifted her off to their cradle
Somewhere far in the oceans bygone.

That night, the ocean waves
sang an old-fashioned love song.
