Without compulsion, A Woman Am I

Someday, you'll grow up
to be the woman you are meant to be...

There were times when the road ahead
seemed impossible to tread upon
Those days are never meant to be remembered

There were days when, in tears, I drowned
and as I wiped them away
I thought it was okay to cry
So I let the tears fall unabashedly

There were those moments when
I was unsure I'd wake up to another sunrise
Then I'd watch out for sunset
And with gratefulness
say
'I was gifted another day'

A woman's worth lies not in uphill tasks,
nor the tears she let fall,
nor her uncertainty with life...

A woman's worth is seen
through her willingness to be
all that she's meant to be

without compulsion
